Red Peony

The Red Peony, Paeonia lactiflora. Although there are many Peonies on the market in this day and age, at this time we have chosen unnamed varieties, simply pink, red and white. Peonies are one of the best cut flowers and are often used in the Midwest to decorate gravesites on Memorial Day. All of our peonies are widely adaptable to most soils across the country. It also looks good in mass. It is not uncommon to see peonies planted along the driveway or lane in a mass.


White Peony

Rosenkuppel Oregano

Price: 10.95

The Rosenkuppel Oregano, Origanum laevigatum, is a great ground cover used in mass or alone. It forms attractive mats of round dark green leaves that are the perfect backdrop for its beautiful, ornamental dark pink flowers. Its contrasting purple calyces really make this plant stand out amongst the rest. Blooming from August to October, it has a plant height of 15" and a width of 24". Oregano needs to be planted in a full sun area with well-drained soil. Try planting with Pennisetum 'Little Bunny'.


Red Dragon

Price: 11.95

The Persicaria Red Dragon is a wonderful variety in the Persicaria family. With its superb, variegated maroon leaves with burgundy heart shaped centers and a white chevron, it has a plant height of 2 and a spread of 18-23. The flowers are white and bloom in June and July, but this plant is more noted for its foliage. It does need a well-drained area, making sure it is not over watered. Red Dragon will look great in any perennial garden, in mixed container, woodland edge or near ponds and streams.


Atropurpurea Phlox

The Phlox Atropurpurea, 'Phlox subulata', is an ideal ground cover with masses of tiny wine-red flowers and a thick mat of semi-evergreen foliage. Blooming from April to May, it has a plant height of 4-6 and a spread of 12-18. It is a definite addition to any perennial garden. Atropurpurea needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Use Atropurpurea in rock gardens, as a spread over curbs and short retaining walls, or in difficult edges of dry streambeds.


Flower Power Phlox

The Phlox Flower Power, 'Phlox maculata', a Blooms of Bressingham plant, is a new and exciting addition to the (tall Phlox varieties. The attractive creamy white and pink wands make it even more beautiful. Flower Power is shorter, sturdier and more mildew-resistant than most in its family. Blooming from July to August, it has a plant height of 42 and a spread of 36-48. Flower Power needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Use Flower Power in rock gardens, as a background plant or with Ornamental Grasses and Hibiscus.

The Perovskia Little Spire Sage, Perovskia atriplicifolia, is an exciting new variety to the Sage family. Growing only 3 high with a plant spread of 12-18, it is one that should not be missed. The lavender-purple flowers make a great contrast with its silvery, fragrant foliage. Deadhead for repeat bloom time. It does need a well-drained area. Little Spire looks great anywhere in the garden. It is resistant to deer, attracts butterflies, an excellent choice for hot, dry gardens, and has attractive winter foliage.

The Scabiosa japonica 'Blue Diamonds, also known as Pincushion Flower, is a dwarf selection that only reaches 6 inches tall. The wonderful lilac-blue flowers bloom from June to October. Blue Diamonds is a reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. With its green foliage, it has a plant spread of 12-18", and it is disease resistant. Blue Diamonds is great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and does excellent in rock gardens. It will do excellent for front-of-the-border areas, with Coreopsis Moonbeam', Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', in mass plantings or as cut flowers.


Butterfly Blue Scabiosa

The Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue, Scabiosa columbaria, also know as the Pincushion Flower, has wonderful 2" lavender-blue flowers that bloom from June to October. Scabiosa Butterfly Blue was name Perennial Plant of the Year in 2000, and one can see why. Blanca Scabiosa

The Scabiosa 'Blanca, Scabiosa Hybrid, is a small flowered form of the Pincushion Flower and it exhibits a a compact habit. 'Blancat' is a reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. With its gray-green foliage, it has a plant height of 8 and a spread of 12-18", not to mention being disease resistant. It is best to plant Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil and should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase its overall performance. Noted for very free flowering, butterfly-friendly, and a good cut flower.


Giant Blue Scabiosa

The Scabiosa 'Giant Blue' is a vigous version of the 'Buttefly Blue'. It has larger lavender-blue flowers that bloom from June to October. Giant Blue is reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. With its gray-green foliage, it has a plant height of 16 and a spread of 12-18". It is also disease resistant. It will do excellent for front-of-the-border areas, with Coreopsis Moonbeam', Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', in mass plantings or as cut flowers.
